Description

This is the first of two outfits for my rendition of Harley Quinn (something I think every aspiring artist has taken a stab at), expressions and poses will follow (eventually).
I don’t know why but I figured I’d get very technical on this one's description (someone might find it useful, who knows) so here goes:

This character is based strongly within the world of Christopher Nolan’s films so I was aiming for something a bit grittier and a little less ‘costumey’ but still wanted something close to the original (which is why I didn’t opt for the hawtpants).
This outfit is the ‘low-budget rig’, used while Harley is still starting out her criminal career and is based on a modified(dyed) combat harness. The red and black as well as the ventilation make it look like a woman’s corset but in the original olive drab it’s plenty macho (believe it!).
The diamond patter in her laces, ventilation and spacing on her chest, as well as the white choker and straps are a nod to a real harlequin’s outfit (I have no idea what to call that thing around their necks).

Hers is a bomber-style motorcycle jacket, chosen because of its interior space which is useful for storing concealed weapons, ammunition and grenades.
She’s replaced the riding armor with ballistic armor, which is heavier, and with a full arsenal it’s quite a load (about 15kg) it’s just as well her harness is ventilated.
Her thick-soled, low-heel boots are also a practical compromise made on behalf of all the weight she carries.
The arm gloves are modeled after a real-world pair of arm protectors that have the same diamond-pattern; they provide a buffer between her bare flesh and the ballistic armor so that the force of gunshots against her jacket doesn’t cause heavy bruising (if anybody in the Gotham PD ever managed to aim straight – amirite?).

Her gun is also modified; a bison PP19 with an AkS-74U barrel. It’s a cheap but reliable weapon based on the Ak47 but uses a smaller caliber ammunition so has a recoil more suited to a lady’s grip and its slender build makes it perfect for the psychopath on the go. She’s painted the cylindrical magazines to look vaguely like candy cane while the gun has had several diamond shapes scratched into it.
Aside from the magazines her jacket also holds several soviet-made F1 grenades, also cheap.

If I can find the time, I’d love to do a short comic based on her character, but we’ll see how that goes.
